FAQ’s
1. How was Method for Eager LearnersTM developed?
Back when the No Children Left Behind Act was enacted, Dr. Mike was given a published reading curriculum based on research and told to only use this for literacy instruction from now on. Dr. Mike tried to implement the program but students weren’t grasping the concepts. So he started to modify the lessons using music and more hands-on activities. One lesson lead to another and the curriculum developed into a well-balanced program addressing the basic skills required for beginning literacy development. Dr. Mike went to the reading specialist and asked her to observe a lesson; she loved it and gave the clearance to use it in his classroom.
2. What are Dr. Mike’s qualifications?
Dr. Mike has been a special education teacher for 34 years, teaching a wide range of ability levels and grade levels. He earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership. He thinks outside of the box and brings creativity into each lesson.
3. What makes MEL different from other programs?
Method for Eager Learners (MEL) unites all the senses into one vehicle for skill acquisition and development. The program provides materials and directions for differentiated instruction with each lesson, enabling a teacher to teach to a group of students with varying ability levels.
