About Us:

Lorikeet Learning was created by the team of Dr. Michael Mallee (known as Dr. Mike), a career educator, and Stephen Kramer a graduate student with a game design and web technologies / programming background. They were later assisted by Dan Jorquera, a wizard of drawing, programming, and animating, who graduated with Stephen, in the same field of study.

What was to become Lorikeet Learning was first envisioned and created by co-founder Stephen Kramer, during his junior year as an undergraduate student in 2008. Wanting to apply his knowledge of video game design, Stephen created Lorikeet Learning. His vision for Lorikeet Learning was to help children with learning disorders (specifically autism, ADHD, and dyslexia) by teaching through video games and technology utilizing interactive learning.

Stephen was engaged in an independent study to focus on autism and created a game which helped children with autism better understand grammar.

After completing his undergraduate degree, he began seeking out a specialist who was strongly focused in the area of teaching children with autism, who would share in his goal of starting his own company.

From this search he met Dr. Michael Mallee. They came together with a shared vision to address a growing and prevalent need in today’s society and, more specifically, in our educational system -- how to effectively teach basic reading, math and social sciences to students with autism. Lorikeet Learning was born!

Stephen Kramer

While finishing college at the University of Baltimore's video game design degree B.S. Simulation and Digital Entertainment, he discovered his talents for leveraging game based technology to address learning disabilities in children. Stephen specifically focused on ADHD and Autism. Pouring his time into research, and classes requiring fully designed games, Stephen's first game for learning disorders addressed ADHD and children taking their medicine. This brought the inspiration for creating a game for children with autism to better understand grammar. As lead designer with Dan Jorquera for all projects, Stephen believes Lorikeet Learning’s unique approach to teaching will help millions of children with special learning needs.

Dan Jorquera

Dan Jorquera is behind the art, programming, and game design seen in the Lorikeet Learning projects. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Game Design from the University of Baltimore and has participated in several game design competitions. Under the supervision of Dr. Mike, Dan aspires to create artwork that is colorful, engaging, and exciting. With a wife who is a teacher and a cousin diagnosed with autism, he is heavily invested in the world of education and expects nothing but the best from Lorikeet Learning.
